Kathy Ortiz

Kathy is an equity partner of the firm. Kathy has extensive experience preparing and prosecuting patents in a range of technologies, including semiconductor process and packaging, memory and storage, software, and mechanical/medical devices. Kathy has practiced both as in-house counsel and in private practice.
Kathy worked at a large Fortune 100 semiconductor chip manufacturing company for over fifteen years, both as a legal intern while in law school, and subsequently as in-house patent counsel. Kathy has experience with patent portfolio management, litigation, and licensing efforts as well as patent preparation and prosecution.
Prior to joining the legal profession, Kathy worked as a thin film/plasma processing intern at the IBM research facility in San Jose, and as a CVD intern at NASA Ames, Moffett Field, while an undergraduate. Kathy has extensive work experience as a process engineer, working for Hewlett Packard for over ten years, both sustaining and developing various semiconductor processes.
