RICHARD WILHELM

Richard is of counsel to the firm, focusing on patent preparation and prosecution.
Richard has over 23 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the mechanical, software, electrical, and computer arts. In addition, Richard has prepared patent infringement/freedom to operate opinions, and provided counsel on the patentability of various ideas.
Prior to joining EPG, Richard was an in-house attorney for a large hardware/software company. His responsibilities included preparing and prosecuting patent applications, and managing preparation and prosecution of patent applications by internal patent attorneys and agents, and outside counsel. His responsibilities also included providing advice related to trademarks and software licensing. Earlier in his career, Richard practiced patent law as outside counsel in a number of law firms. Richard served in various positions on the Board of the Oregon Patent Law Association (OPLA), including as President and Treasurer.
Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Richard worked as a project manager for a large financial institution, and later as in-house counsel practicing commercial and regulatory law.
